This Saturday, July 25th at the Railroad Depot experienced re-enactors will be discussing the different American War eras, displaying and demonstrating equipment and weapons. There are around 20 homeschoolers participating in this event, as soldiers, civilians, musicians and dramatic presentation. All have studied some about their particular areas, aided by skilled mentors. Come out and enjoy learning about so many things over such a large span of history and support these homeschool families in this living history endeavor.

March Through Time is a colorful review of the American military from 1760 - 2009. Mr. Pettus will finish Lewis & Clark talk
Mr. Pettus will finish Lewis & Clark on May 20 at 1pm
He got them to the west coast last time, now he wants to share with you their trip back and what happened to many of them later.
Mr. Pettus will also take some time to discuss with us: Numbers are Relative
He will discuss the comparing of size and population of our country, state and nation to other areas of the world.
This should be our last discussion with Mr. Pettus until August or September (but we all know how that may go! He has so much to tell us, we may have to squeeze in another date!).
We are scheduled to start with the Civil War (um, or the War of Northern Aggression or the War Between the States, trying to please everyone!!) when we start up again. :-)
We now have the last two talks on dvd for sale. The cost is $10 each. After I pay myself back for the film guys all the money will go to Mr. Pettus. I hope to continue filming each talk from now on. Great for watching or listening to in the car.
Thank you all for your commitment and devotion to Mr. Pettus. Tell your friends!

You may need to leave with your little ones if they are disruptive during Mr. Pettus' talk. Mr. Pettus cannot raise his voice over the noise. Please put someone in charge of the children you leave from the talk. Thank you for being considerate. If you would, help me to make sure all trash (little pieces of paper, water bottles, etc are picked up from the sancuary and the bathrooms are left tidy).
You may pass this on to your cover schools and friends.
Directions: Kingdom Life is on Governor’s West. From Huntsville: Take I -565 west. Take the first exit after you go under Research Park Blvd. At the light, turn back to your right. The church is just a block or so on your left. Be careful and look hard because it sits off the road a bit and has some trees. From Madison, take Hwy 20/Madison Blvd east toward the entrance for I-565. The last light before your begin entrance is Governor's west to the left. The church is on the left about a block.

for this forum each year since 2007, and along with the Marine Corps
Ball, it is one of those truly inspirational events not to be missed.
Esprit de Corps will be in order as we enjoy the company of fellow
Marines and spouses during the Social Hour which will begin at 5:30
PM. Refreshments and heavy hors d'ouevres will be served.
Following the social, at 6:30 PM, we'll update you on the successes of the Task Force in 2008, and the plans we've made for 2009. And we'll be honored to hear from our special guest, Col Dave Hilmers, USMC (Ret). Dave was a Naval Flight Officer (A-6s) and NASA Astronaut/Mission Specialist who flew 4 Space Shuttle missions. After retiring from NASA, he went to medical school and now serves as a Doctor of Pediatric and Internal Medicine. His commitment to serving others as a Marine, astronaut, and
now as a doctor in Houston, TX is truly amazing, and he's coming to share his story with us.
It promises to be quite an evening.

Skate Day in Decatur May 1
The monthly homeschool skate day sponsored by NACHO is coming up. All homeschoolers are invited to attend. May's home school skate day at the Decatur Skate Castle will be this Friday, May 1, from 12:00 – 2:30 pm.
Families may bring their used curriculum to sell. We use one of the party rooms to display books. Please bring an envelope or some other means of collecting money unless you plan to stay with your books.
We also typically have a free, optional, half hour mini class for moms during the skate time. This month's class will be on low cost/no cost activities and travel ideas for families this summer. The ladies who are doing this class are real experts on traveling and learning on a shoestring budget.
We will be skating to contemporary Christian music. Admission cost is $3 (this includes rental fee) per child ages 3 and over whether they skate or not. Non-skating moms and those 2 and under get in free. If you would like low top skates or roller blades there will be an additional $3 charge. Those paying to get in will receive a free small coke. The lunch choices will be hot dog\chips\drink or one slice pizza\drink – either choice is $1.25. Heritage Children's Chorale (POSTPONED)
Heritage Children's Chorale has been postponed. Was to be Monday, May 4th at 7:00 pm at Providence Baptist Church in Huntsville. New Date to be determined.
Seventy beautiful children's voices sing praises to God in a concert open to everyone to attend. This chorus began 21 years ago and is still under the talented direction of Mary Stephenson. Comprised of two chapters (Pulaski, TN and Athens, AL), the group combines for four concerts a year. Fortunately this year, one of them is close by at Providence Baptist Church at 1355 Douglass Rd., 1/2 mile west of Jeff Rd. The Chorale has performed with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra and the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra, as well as single performances with Amy Grant, Donna Summer, and Christian artist John Starnes. Over the years, the Chorale has travelled our country extensively and been invited overseas multiple times. This is a free concert; donations are accepted, but there's no pressure individually to give. No need to register; just show up. Approximately one hour.
