HOURS
The Aquarium ticketing center opens at 9:30 a.m. daily (Eastern Time); first admittance to the Aquarium is at 10 a.m. with last admittance at 6 p.m. The Aquarium closes at 8 p.m.

HOME SCHOOL DAY Q&A
1. Do I need to make a reservation to attend?
No. Simply tell our admissions staff that you are a home school family when you purchase your ticket on the day of the event to receive the discounted rate.

2. My entire home school group would like to attend together. Do we have to make a reservation?
Groups of ten or more students have two choices for home school day: making a group reservation or asking each family to pay separately upon arrival. If you choose to pay separately, there is no need to worry about calling ahead to make a reservation or to collect money in advance. If you choose to make a group reservation, one person will represent the entire group and pay for everyone upon arrival. Your group representative will also be responsible for calling at least one week prior to the event to make the reservation, including the number of students expected to attend. When making an advance reservation only, one adult chaperone for every ten students will be given free admission.

3. Do I need proof of home schooling?
No. Just tell the admissions staff you are a home school family and we’ll take your word for it.

4. Can students tour the Aquarium alone?
As with any other education group, we do require that students be supervised by an adult during the duration of your visit.

5. What education activities will be offered that day?
A detailed schedule of events will be available online soon as well as the day of the event. Feeding dives, behind-the-scenes tours, live animal encounters and other education programs will be offered throughout the day. Educational activities will be available for you to complete with your child.

6. Are there any education materials available to prepare my child for our visit or to complete as we explore the Aquarium?
Yes! Check out our AquaGuide, AquaQuests, Scavenger Hunts and more on our Downloadable Activities page.

7. Where do we go for lunch?
No food or drinks are allowed in the Aquarium; however picnic tables are located just outside the Aquarium for your convenience. Coolidge Park is a local favorite – just a quick walk or drive across the river, this park has plenty of green space for picnics. If you’d like to purchase your lunch, a concession stand is located on the Aquarium plaza. Many restaurants are within walking distance.

8. I can’t attend on the date you have planned. Will you hold another home school day?
We currently offer two home school days per year – one in September and another in January. Specific dates will be posted as they are planned.

for more information about the home school program e-mail brm@tnaqua.org

Mr. Pettus will finish Lewis & Clark talk

Mr. Pettus will finish Lewis & Clark on May 20 at 1pm

He got them to the west coast last time, now he wants to share with you their trip back and what happened to many of them later.

Mr. Pettus will also take some time to discuss with us: Numbers are Relative

He will discuss the comparing of size and population of our country, state and nation to other areas of the world.

This should be our last discussion with Mr. Pettus until August or September (but we all know how that may go! He has so much to tell us, we may have to squeeze in another date!).

We are scheduled to start with the Civil War (um, or the War of Northern Aggression or the War Between the States, trying to please everyone!!) when we start up again. :-)

We now have the last two talks on dvd for sale. The cost is $10 each. After I pay myself back for the film guys all the money will go to Mr. Pettus. I hope to continue filming each talk from now on. Great for watching or listening to in the car.

Thank you all for your commitment and devotion to Mr. Pettus. Tell your friends!

Please bring exact amount in cash for your family (no checks or coins)

Please email me and let me know how many will be attending from your family.
If you rsvp for the talk, I will know who to alert in case of last minute change or canel.

Keep in mind that this is a serious commitment. We promise Mr. Pettus his fee. If we ever don't get enough we will have to charge a bit more. This has not happened yet and hopefully it won't! :-) Y'all have been so good about coming. Thank you.

Use this for history credit. Keep track of hours spent on reading, research and/or required writing. Be sure to google the topics Mr. Pettus tells you to!! It is great fun.

NOTE: We cannot use the nursery at Kingdom Life Church. There is a fellowship hall type room you may use, but please do not use any of the church's belongings. You may need to leave with your little ones if they are disruptive during Mr. Pettus' talk. Mr. Pettus cannot raise his voice over the noise. Please put someone in charge of the children you leave from the talk. Thank you for being considerate. If you would, help me to make sure all trash (little pieces of paper, water bottles, etc are picked up from the sancuary and the bathrooms are left tidy).

You may pass this on to your cover schools and friends.

Directions: Kingdom Life is on Governor’s West. From Huntsville: Take I -565 west. Take the first exit after you go under Research Park Blvd. At the light, turn back to your right. The church is just a block or so on your left. Be careful and look hard because it sits off the road a bit and has some trees. From Madison, take Hwy 20/Madison Blvd east toward the entrance for I-565. The last light before your begin entrance is Governor's west to the left. The church is on the left about a block.
